The Best Beaches in Florida aren't always where you suppose they are. If you're going to have a Florida holiday on the Gulf side of the state you should check out the Vero Beach location before making your reservations. The Gulf region has a bathtub five or six months out of the year while we in Vero Beach have a nice ocean that is more comfortable to swim in. Daytona Clearwater and Panama City are three of the beaches that come to mind when people think of the best beaches for Florida. The Treasure Coast is quieter and less packed than the Gulf side of the state.
Melbourne is to the north so you are escaping the hoards of both West Palm Beach which is south of here and crowds from Orlando that vivit Melbourne. We are situated precisely between those two areas. Right between the Fort Pierce inlet and Sebastian inlet lies some of the best beaches in Florida and they are uncrowded with water that can be tropical blue. There are times when it gets sandy and looks more like Daytona but that is usually short lived. To the north it gets turbid and churned up a lot more than south of the Sebastian Inlet. We are at the edge of the tropics here which is evident in the water at times.
The Sea Spray Inn is situated right next to South Beach Park which is a public park with splendid beach access. The park is divided into two parts. Near the parking areas you have grassy areas, picnic tables, barbecue grills and public restrooms. In order to get to the beach you take one of three boardwalks through the jungle growth for about 50 yards to get to the sand. Vero Beach has three public beaches and South Beach Park has the widest area of sand of the three. Even at high tide there is probably close to 60 yards of sand between the jungle area and the water. At high tide the 2 northern parks have very little sandy beach. The shopping district is near the middle of the three public beach parks.
The old downtown has been nicely restored and turned into an upscale shopping area. It is full of a all-inclusive mixture of shops. The stores include a cool kitchen shop, homemade candy shop, several fantastic clothing stores a unique mens shop, some really nice jewelry stores and many others. The barrier island also has some of the best restaurants in the area. Being one of the best areas to shop does not mean it is the only one. There are lots of choices here.See Best Florida Beaches Here. There is also the Miracle Mile which is just over the bridge on the mainland just off of Route 60. If you want an indoor mall all you have to do is go west on Route 60 as you do so you will also pass many of the big box stores.
