Building Solid Back Links
This is a topic that everyone seems to be arguing about currently. Everyone trying to be able to second-guess Google's actions - they will will never do - and questioning whether reciprocal linking is dead, dying or whether it is something worth having on.
Enough of the actual speculation. Here's the substantiation. Google do not like reciprocal link directories and they can sniff one particular out a mile off. There was a web link directory on our site until lately, but I have recently removed it, because it experienced become as useful as a chocolate teapot. Whilst the principal front page of the site has maintained it's Google Pagerank of PR5, in one in their last updates, Google relegated that directory, which had also previously had a PR5, to a ADVERTISING 0. Meanwhile, I had not altered my relating structure that pointed to it. I had definitely not altered my plans either: I did not connect to any PR0 websites, kept the number of links per page as a result of a minimum and there are even text descriptions per entry listed. Google could tell what it absolutely was and acted because they saw fit. The game has evolved since the latest Panda update and although edu links, contextual back links, and several other backlinks still carry weight, some link building methods are far less powerful than before.
There is certainly absolutely no point wondering or whining over it. They can and they are doing so to be able to provide better results to searchers. You can as it or lump that, but if you would like them to give you decent listings, ranks or post you any traffic, their rules matter. My advice: forget *artificial* reciprocal backlinks completely. The time come to maintain the service, approve and disaprove marketing (mostly this latter, because the solely people still seeking links are bad PR0 sites in addition to spammers) may be much better used.
Whenever you need to exchange links together with other sites, make sure you are doing so in an all natural way, by which I mean write about one other site somehow and place natural links from the body text. And consider just giving to obtain. By which What i'm saying is, link out to useful things for that entertainment of these potential customers giving no consideration for the immediate usefulness of the link to people. What goes around will happen around. Once you are seen as useful, others will connection to you. You do then get your links "reciprocated", but it may not be from the same individuals to whom you linked.
That is naturally of linking that Google wants to see. Do not, under any circumstances, maintain anything (other than internal navigation) which could look like merely a listing of links or hyperlink farm, because Google will quickly realize it, won't like it and may penalize it. Reciprocal linking, in the way of lists or directories merely designed for that very goal cannot do anything to assist you with Google (quite the opposite, in fact) and for that reason, est mortuus.
